I awoke to the familiar sounds of the ocean lapping against the hull of my ship. The dull ache in my skull did little to help the gnawing in my gut that often accompanied a foreboding feeling. My hand pinched the bridge of my nose for a second before lighting my cherry tobacco.
My first mate looks like he wants to throttle me and I don’t blame him for it. For two days straight he could not find me anywhere once we landed in Port Royal. What can I say I was in some women’s bed until her husband came home. She was a wild one but she wanted me to leave her with a piece of me that I cannot give. I refuse to be tied to the land by anyone in a skirt and a pretty smile. what can I say I like the life of a bachelor and a smile that comes with a side of danger.
